Arts Milton Branding

Thanks to the support of FASTSIGNS Milton, Arts Milton has new organizational and event signage!

The team at FASTSIGNS Milton was generous, supportive and quick to respond. They provided us with feedback and designs as part of the ordering process. The final product was high quality – the imagery and text was clear and the materials used were thick and long-lasting. Which means we can use this signage over and over again during our seasonal programming!

Milton Culture Days Saturday Stages

This year Arts Milton decided to go BIG with two large outdoor performance presentations for Milton Culture Days. These “Saturday Stage” line-ups included local musicians (both emerging and established), theatre performers, musicians, dancers, and artists.

Arts Milton would like to thank the team at FM 101 Milton for the excellent community promotion. The event listings, web banner and on air spots brought a great crowd to our first event!

Here are some photographs of the October 2, 2021 Saturday Stage.

Milton Culture Days at Milton Community Sports Park

We’re two weekends into Milton Culture Days 2021, and we’ve so far presented two beautiful days of activities at Milton Community Sports Park. Thanks to support from the Town of Milton, this year we are using the natural ampitheatre space of Event Area A.

On our September 26th rain date, we gathered with 5 local artists (Aparna Rangnekar, Zunaira Mufti, Sneha Mahajan and Omar Hopkinson) to transform 5 upcycled pallet benches into stunning works of art. Working on the grass on a very windy day, over 6 hours, the artists’ final pieces did not disappoint. The colours were bright, and the themes varied – including graffiti style, nature-inspired, and mid-century modern shapes.

Thanks to quick thinking from the Town of Milton event, operations and facility teams, the benchs found a home between Milton Culture Days events, and hopefully afterward as well! Watch for the placement of one in your neighbourhood 😉

Midway Friendship Project Update

This year’s Friendship Project has moved from in-person activities to virtual workshops on Zoom. Still, families are showing up excitedly for each program, from art classes and ancestry workshops to baking and music lessons.

Below are some of the workshops we have enjoyed so far with Chef Sai Chelliah, Authors Diksha Pal Narayan and Ken Flynn, Snapology Halton, Artist Aparna Rangnekar, House of Chords and CRASH Rhythm.

The Friendship Project 2021 Kicks Off

As part of our mission to connect the greater Milton community with artists of all genres in the spirit of providing cultural enrichment, Arts Milton coordinates “The Friendship Project”. Arts Milton’s MCF funded Friendship Project connects Newcomers with Community Hosts within Milton. Together they participate in free arts and culture activities over a period of four-five months.  The program encourages community engagement, creates connections, develops tolerance and reduces isolation.

On February 28, 2021 new Friendship project participants gathered on Zoom for a Meet and Greet event including icebreakers and drama games with Calowis Entertainment. Over the next three months participating families will enjoy numerous arts and culture activities including local nature workshops with Conservation Halton, a culinary class with Open Appetite, art classes and music lessons with House of Chords, Rick Imus Music Studio and CRASH Rhythm.

The Fourth Annual Arts Milton Friendship Project

As we move into 2021, Arts Milton begins to plan the fourth (!) installment of The Friendship Project. Due to Covid-19, this year’s activities will take place online through Zoom based workshops. This year’s activities will take place from February to June 2021 and will include a variety of music, dance, art, craft, STEM, culinary, philosophy and heritage classes!

We are still accepting newcomer families until February 9, 2021. Visit our Friendship Project page for more information, and find the application here.

Milton Culture Days Sponsor Week – The Green Eatery

Arts Milton has partnered up with The Green Eatery this year to make Milton Culture Days delicious! The local vegan restaurant will be catering the Friday, Sept 27 Launch Event at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. There you’ll find fresh fruit and veggies, in addition to Green Eatery classics like brownie bites and hemp balls.

The Green Eatery will also be on site throughout the weekend to offer snacks and refreshments for sale to Milton Culture Days attendees.

Thank-you to The Green Eatery family for your support of this event!
